Recovery in the Heart of Alexandria, VA
Since 1952, The Men’s Home has pursued its mission to “provide a home-like environment for alcoholics sincere in wanting to recover from alcoholism.” The Men’s Home approach is simple; to give men in early recovery a safe, stable and supportive environment where they can focus on re-entering their communities as productive and contributing members.
While The Men’s Home is not an official part of Alcoholics Anonymous, we believe through working the Twelve Steps of A.A. residents will reap the benefits of a way of life that is built on selflessness, honesty, accountability, fellowship and spirituality.
The Men’s Home Recovery Scholarship
$30,000 in scholarships available for VA residents dedicated to helping others overcome addiction.
Alexandria’s 15th annual Spring2ACTion Giving Day is here!
Alexandria’s Giving Day is an opportunity to support not only The Men’s Home, but a host of other non-profit organizations making a difference in our community every day. The 24 hours of giving ends tonight at 11:59pm. So, please take this opportunity to show you support!
If you’re hungry, grab a bite at Pork Barrel or Holy Cow on Mount Vernon Street in Del Ray. They will be donating a portion of their receipts to The Men’s Home to show their support for our mission.

What To Expect
The Men’s Home humbly supports men in early sobriety, offering a lifeline of hope, AA wisdom, shared strength.
House Rules
Residents follow structured guidelines to ensure a safe, respectful, and stable living environment. This includes daily chores, curfews, regular AA meetings, and a shared commitment to accountability and community.
Group Meetings
The Men’s Home is host to three open AA meetings each week—Tuesday (Big Book), Thursday (12 Step), and Sunday (Speaker). Attendance is required for residents and serves as a foundation for recovery and connection within the AA community.
Activities & Community
Throughout the year, we host events like SoberFeast, our annual golf tournament, and holiday picnics to foster connection and raise support. Residents are expected to participate as part of their commitment to the Home and their recovery in general.
Character Building
Sobriety is more than abstinence—it’s a way of life. Through the Twelve Steps and support from the AA community, residents learn practical tools and spiritual principles to face life with clarity and purpose.
